Hakology Day 29 : Blog Entry

Hello hakologists, sorry the posts have been a little thin on the ground currently in the process of starting a new company and managing my existing customers. I’m having some new tools fitted in my workshop which has taken up a lot of time recently. I’m still working on bits and bobs when I have time as soon as I get chance I’ll get something uploaded.

Started installing debian on my main rig.

Hakology Day 24 : Blog Entry

I thought I’d finally shook this cold, seems to have moved on to my chest, in between coughing and blowing my nose will try and get some more recording done today. I hate being ill. On the plus side I got that website up and running.

Hakology Day 23 : Blog Entry

[1152]
Chores done back to work.
[/1152]

[1628]
Spent the last five or so hours preparing to record and tidying up. When I said chores done didn’t realise everything else I’d got left to do would take so long but its always the way I suppose. Knocked out a load of jobs that needed doing, still having some issues with the website I’m trying to setup but I’m sure its just me being a newb. Have a friend coming over for a couple of hours and that will leave me with the rest of the evening to finish off the latest video.

Back and fighting fit.
[/0835]

Some bargains I managed to grab yesterday … 9 books in total for £1.50 not bad when you consider these would have cost over £200 to buy when new. Old but always interesting looking at concepts, examples and principles.

Hakology Day 19 : Blog Entry

[0756]
Nice hot brew and to call my ISP and figure out why their automated system hasnt automated adding and configuring the website I registered yesterday, meh, I bet the support line isnt open till 9.
[/0756]

[1127]
So I logged a ticket earlier, checked back at 11 for an update, but nothing. In the process though I found a bug on my ISPs management interface and have just reported it. Nothing like a good vulnerability to start the day. Think they’ll sort the hosting out this afternoon. 🙂

[1250]
Just getting some advice on responsible disclosure from the 2600 bunch. Cant wait to do a little write up on what exactly was happening and how I came across it. A little bit gutted they don’t have an active bug bounty program.

[1424]
Well fun over for the morning, back to preparing notes and research. I say research … I’m currently working on some game hacking lol which might involve some impromptu gaming. All the notes for the next hakology video are ready, looking for some new projects and interesting stuff for you lot.

Hakology Day 18 : Blog Entry

[0915]
Feeling a lot better today but still a little under the weather. Have to do a few jobs this morning but should be online and creating later.
[/0916]

[1352]
Picked up a PC for an upgrade 256gb SSD and PCIE wireless card. Just sorting that out and having a brew.
[/1352]

[1412]
Waiting for images to burn, files to copy etc. Had a good play with kodi whilst I’ve been ill an I’m pretty impressed, makes it easier in some ways to watching content on your PC.
[/1412]

[1441]
This program http://download.wsusoffline.net/ has been a real time saver, when people ask me to install windows 7 for them usually the update service is borked and needs fixing, quite frankly the MS tools are diabolical this seems to be the best / quickest way to patch and repair the windows update service.
[/1441]

[1508]
Setting up wordpress for a new web client. Almost done with all my jobs for the day then hopefully get down to some recording even if its only a vblog.
[/1508]

[0004]
Knackered and my head is aching, going to call it one for today. Finished all the updates on that build and also dropped debian jessie into a separate partition for them to try as they’d asked about linux. Need to be up early tomorrow and get that website online. Honestly not worth me recording a vlog b/c I’m still pretty flued up.

Hakology Day 15 : Blog Entry

[1005]
Wow two weeks, time flies when you’re having fun. Knuckling down again today hopefully somewhere near to completing the gqrx video. Spent some of the weekend teaching a friend python and the other half modding my retropie. After spending a few days working on it, its coming together quite nicely. Loads of classics, managed to setup dosbox and test some ports. NB. Some ports seem to FUBAR the card / os / boot. Select carefully when installing them. Once you have a good working SD card F£$%ING image it (*as regularly as possible whilst building your retropie install*) I’ve had to start from scratch a few times, once is annoying but on your fifth attempt it starts to get a little frustrating.
Right coffee and breakfast time.
[1013]

[0034]
Ended up having to help a friend out earlier, but back to the computing now. Looks like gqrx is even easier to setup in linux than in windows that makes a nice change.
[/0034]

[0224]
Notes written and I think i’ve worked out how to record the linux installs. Even managed to get the RTLSDR working in vitual box, but its bit late to start recording.

Hakology Day 13 : Blog Entry

[0006]
Had a really chilled out day today, think I deserve one after the last twelve days! Visited a friends and took the RPi3 loaded with retropie and about twenty games, not the best games but a selection of a few good old ones. Spent the entirety of the evening chatting about old computers and consoles, by the time I was leaving they wanted me to order another for them, they were that impressed.

Just going to spend a few hours on the SDR and have a quick blast on steam. Hope you lot have a wicked weekend, having fun, doing all the hacks, will be back blogging tomorrow. Peace.

Heavily modding the retropie install.
